The About Us, Company Profile, page has many names, but it has one purpose. It is to show the people behind the company. People buy from People not companies.

About Us Page

Unlike in the 'real world' where people can visit you and get a feeling for your company by talking to you, on the web your site is your first impression.

The About Us page is where you show customers the people and reasons behind the business. The main thing to bear in mind is on this page you are selling your company, not your services, not your products.

This means that you will explain who is behind the company, why was it established, who is the leadership team, what makes them special.

Things to consider including on this page:

Company philosophy - What drives you to be different? What is your business passion?
Reason for starting the company (even if it was three generations ago) - For example I myself was made redundant and due to a recommendation by a family member to her boss I ended up setting up my own website company.
Key Staff - Have any staff been in the industry for a long time, did they invent something, are they 'well known' personalities?
Any qualifications that are important to your business operations and customer satisfaction. Include Degrees, post graduate training, commitment to constant up skilling etc
Any awards your company has won/received, but keep it relevant, a 50m Swimming Certificate is not relevant (unless you are a swim teacher!). Also if they were a long time ago they may not be relevant, nothing worse than a dusty trophy cabinet.
